We will visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. The AWCC opened to the public in 1993. It is located on 140 acres at the southern edge of Turnagain Arm and the entrance to Portage Valley. The center’s mission is to provide care and rehabilitation for injured and orphaned wildlife and to provide wildlife education and awareness. Animals that are unable to be released or survive in the wild are given refuge in the center's spacious habitats. Here people can safely get close, observe and photograph some of Alaska's largest land animals, including moose, bison, elk, deer, caribou, bears muskox, small mammals and birds of prey. • OMG this was such a great tour. Our guide Zac was the absolute best. Very knowledgeable and friendly.
We had an amazing time watching and learning about all the animals.
I recommend this tour to everyone!

  • Informative commentary
    Fun animal watching
Our guide knew the area well and regions also helped us understand about the challenges faced in other regions
At the center got to see a variety of wildlife

  • Matt was a wonderful guide, I enjoyed his love of nature and his knowledge of the wildlife and sites. He is witty and my daughter and I felt very comfortable and safe.

  • After a fantastic time in Alaska this tour was great. It allowed us to see the animals in the Conservation Center up close (Bears, Moose, and so many others).

Our tour guide was very friendly and highly accommodating. It was a great experience!

  • All the animals seemed healthy! Enclosures were minimally intrusive! Would liked more time to watch the bears!!

  • Scott started our tour with a smile. The Coach was clean and comfortable. There were 10 family members. We listened and learned and Scott also encouraged questions as well. We saw a lot of beautiful scenery and learned about the environment. The Animal Conservation Center was impressive. We really saw a lot of different animals.

  • This tour is great to see some of these animals like the moose, bears, Fox etc. on the way to the conservation centre along Turnagain Arm, its a great site to spot whales near the shore during the high tides. Our guide was very knowledgeable and offered a lot of info on the whole journey.

  • Fantastic

  • Great tour guide

  • Got to see the wild life sanctuary it was nice, it drizzle most of the time and the clouds are grey in Alaska, so I purchased a rain coat that helps towards the wild life.

  • I was very disappointed in the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. It was very run-down ... dilapidated cages ... roads in poor condition ... animals cooped up, etc. You can tour down Seward Parkway all by yourself and see everything the guide showed. Save your money - poor choice on my part.
