Josiah our pilot was fantastic and Justin our dog trainer was very knowledgable and experienced. Our entire family absolutely loved everything about this excursion and said it was by far the best thing they did in Alaska! We would go back and do it again if we could, the helicopter, the glacier, the dogs and the people made this a once in a lifetime event and something none of us will ever forget.....
Amazing is the only word that I can use to describe this excursion! The staff from pick up driver, to pilot, to dog camp staff were amazing! The views beyond spectacular and having times to play with the huskies was wonderful. Highlight of my trip.
This was so awesome it's hard to describe. You start off in a helicopter flying over the valleys and the glacier making your way to the mountain to dog sled. As you land you're greeted by sled dog puppies. Your mushed gives you more info about the dogs, mushing, and the excursion. You're encouraged to play with the dogs before you start sledding. You hop on the sled, sitting or standing depending on your group. You're pulled by 15 dogs across the mountain enjoying the scenery and having an incredible time.
What a great experience! The helicopter ride (first one in our life) was a great one. Andy our pilot was very good pilot and very nice person. The dogsledding was amazing. The dogs were so happy, well looked after and healthy looking. Everything about our day was brilliant. We highly recommend this memorable tour to everyone.
The whole experience was wonderful. Just a little confusion on the pick up place. The ride to the lodge was very scenic and we made photo stops. The helicopter ride and the views were incredible. I was a little hesitant with the helicopter since it was my first time, but it was so smooth that I was actually relaxed. At the camp sharing time petting the dogs was adorable and to see how eager they are to really go running and pulling the sledge was nice. Coming from Florida we were overly prepared for the weather which was actually nice. We were good with our warm clothing. The weather was also out of the ordinary, very warm the whole week.
This experience is a must. The Knik River Lodge is just over an hour outside of Anchorage and the drive is quite beautiful. The team at the lodge was so terrific and Bridgette has the best attitude our pilot Chris was super friendly and fun and answered all of our questions. The team at Dog Camp were so friendly, accommodating and quite experienced. The dogs have such power and those puppies in training were adorable. Chris gave us an exhilarating tour back to the lodge which was the perfect way to end the tour. I’d do this excursion again in a heartbeat!!!
Helicopter ride with Adam was breathtaking. Justin and his team do a fantastic job caring for and introducing the dogs. Interaction with dogs was the best part of the trip, along with holding the new pups. Justin’s true life experience in the Iditarod was great to hear first hand. First class excursion, not to be missed!
Great time! The ability to see all of the glaciers was incredible. BUT, the dog sledding was awesome. True beasts! One has over 35,000 miles that he has run.
go see the dogs...……..………………………..juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
This is now off my bucket list. You are flown by helicopter to the dog camp way up on a glacier. Then you get to ride and/or help drive the dogs. It is a one in a lifetime experience that is well worth the time you spend with the dogs and on the glacier. I would highly recommend this. What you see on TV is just not the same.
