Activity Details
In the year 1885 America’s first serial killer stalked the streets and alleyways of the young, emerging city of Austin. More terrifying than any ghost story, this monster brutally and systematically hacked eight women to death using an ax. For one calendar year, he terrified a city and came to be known as the “midnight assassin”. He was never captured and his identity remains a mystery or does it...?

This tour is our longest at 1 hour 45 minutes and covers 2 miles of historic Austin including West 6th street, Guy Town, the Warehouse District and a drink stop at the iconic Driskill Hotel. The pace is leisurely and, in addition to a drink stop at the Driskill, (drinks not included), there are short rests along the journey.

Join us on this exceptional true crime walking tour investigating exact crime locations and the various theories surrounding the midnight assassin. It’s a “killer” tour.

  • Learning about Moon Towers and the origins of London’s most famous serial killer! Excellent host with pics from the era!

  • Best tour we took while in Austin! The owner/tour guide has you engaged immediately with his knowledge of the murders, and his passion for the subject. He not only covered the facts, but discussed all the different theories surrounding the murders. I won't go into detail so not to give anything away. I would not hesitate to take another tour with this company. Make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes. Tour lasted a little over two hours.

  • We loved it. Jim is very knowledgeable and a great guide! Not only did we learn about the first serial killer in America, we also learned alot about the city.

  • We loved the tour! Tour guide is engaging and so knowledgeable. We got to see downtown Austin while also indulging in the guilty pleasure of true crime.

  • It was an interesting experience. The tour guide was extremely informative. He was kind, and funny too. He had his tablet and he was able to provide pictures and landmarks of the crimes!
