  • This excursion was so much more than we expected. We had just the right amount of time at each location. Our tour guide was knowledgeable about the locations and history of the islands.
I would highly recommend this tour!

  • We were very pleased with the tour our driver was a gem bus “me” with Edmund He was sure a good driver/tour guide

  • The Hilo tour was fantastic. Black sand beach was beautiful. Then a stop at Orchid nursery. Volcanoes National Park was impressive. Moana Loa macadamia nut factory had some reasonable prices. All in all a great day.even with some rain.

  • This was a fabulous trip. To call Chris our tour guide would be selling him short. He became our zoologist, our botanist, our geologist and Hawaiian language consultant. He managed to pack-in about five attractions for the price of one, and made them all fun. This was a terrific day trip. Thanks to all who were involved!

  • This tour was our favorite of the entire cruise vacation. Dre, our guide, was so informative and fun. He made the day so special and enjoyable. The tour is a small group, traveling to many places along the way.to and from the National Park. There is ample time to see everything without feeling rushed. Do yourself a favor, book this trip and ask for Dre!

  • Giovanni was a knowledgable and very helpful and enthusiastic guide. We saw a whole variety of sights and aspects of the Island .

  • This Adventure was so much fun! The staff members on the boat were very helpful and reassuring. Their directions were very precise. A great way to see the ocean from down below! (This was our version of snorkeling/scuba diving.) The photographer took some awesome pictures and video. Such nice people!

  • This was a once-in-a-lifetime tour since Kilauea was erupting and we experienced two earthquakes-- one 5.5 and the other an astounding 6.9 which lasted about 15 seconds. The Jagger Museum was closed and we only had a brief time at the Kilauea overlook before rangers closed the area and soon after the entire park. We enjoyed the visit to the Mauna Loa macadamia factory, the exotic orchid nursery and the beautiful black sand beach. Our guide was most concerned about our safety on this unpredictable day and on making sure that we had the tour we were expecting and he delivered on both counts.

  • This tour was amazing!

  • The guide was excellent and very informative. The tour was well organized. The value was excellent

  • We had the most wonderful time and our guide was so informative and caring of our needs. I have to say that all of our viator excursions were well worth the money. The efficiency with the transfers was exceptional. The guides were terrific. I would definitely recommend Viator
for any excursion you may be contemplating. They were so professional. Thank you for a fabulous experience.

  • This tour was excellent. Same as what the ship was providing except for a much better price. Our guide did a great job showing us part of his island and was proud of it's sights. We saw several views of the volcano, lava tube, national park visitor center, ocean park and beaches with black sand, orchid farm display and sales center, opportunity for lunch and snacks, etc. We are always pleased with Viator's offerings and this was no exception.

  • Our Hilo excusion was fabulous. We were met by our guide Edmund at the ship's port who escorted our small group to his air conditioned van. He shared the history of the island with us as we drove to Volcanoes National Park and Rainbow Falls. The walk through the lava tube was very interesting. Stops along the tour included a macadamia nut farm, orchid farm and various other sites of interest. Edmund was extremely helpful with recommendations and shared his wealth of knowledge with us. He was an excellent guide with us being a small group. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hilo for the first time. Well done!

  • There seemed to be some tactical problems between the bus drivers and the staff handling identification of customers and the placing of customers onto the buses. My party was on one bus and moved to another. This was annoying. The event seemed disorganized because of this. HOWEVER:
The tour was exceptional! The driver provided detailed information about every place we were taken. I would recommend that the list of things to bring should include a simple plastic raincoat, just in case.

  • Great tour....guide was very informative. Got to see a lot of the sites on the big island. Walking through a lava tube was the best.

  • We enjoyed this excursion very much.

First, credit where credit is due - our tour guide/driver, Edmund, was excellent. He is very well informed, and provided interesting information not just about the subjects of the excursion, but about living in Hilo.

My husband and I were awe-struck by Volcanoes National Park. Looking down into the crater was like looking at the surface of another planet, such an eerie landscape. Watching the smoke coming up, feeling the steam, was almost other-wordly. Walking through the lava tube was an unforgettable experience. Next time I will plan to spend much more time there.

Later on, we visited the Black Sand Beach which was an amazing photo op with lush green foliage and beautiful blue ocean with dark sand. That is another must return to place.

We also visited the Mauna Loa nut processing factory, which itself was closed as it was a Sunday the gift shop, of course, was open... still, it has lovely gardens.

There was a short stop at an orchid nursery which we could've done without, but still, it was something different that we don't see every day.

Overall, an excursion full of beautiful sights and interesting information.

  • Awesome Tour! We highly recommend it. We enjoyed the waterfalls at Rainbow Falls. Walking through the Lava Tube was such a neat experience and then getting to see the Red Hot Lava bubbling up at Mauna Loa Volcano was such a thrill.

  • We actually made a mistake when we booked this tour. We thought it was leaving Kona but it actually left from Hilo. Our mistake, but once the problem was known the company switched us to a tour that the company ran from Kona. Many thanks for your help. Absolutely great day and the information Bob gave us was excellent. Can highly recommend the tour from Kona. Thanks again Bob. Geoff and Paola.

  • Excellent trip, we had a super driver who made every effort to make our trip as enjoyable and interesting as possible. Very good value for money and would really recommend

  • 5 hour tour turned into a 7 hour tour. Our guide Giovanni was very friendly and welcoming. We saw the Volcano Park, Rainbow Falls, Mauna Loa factory, black Sand Beach and an Orchid nursery. We could of went without the Orchid stop as it was like visiting a Home Depot nursery. It was a long day but worth our while.

  • This tour hits the major "must-see" items near Hilo. Volcano National Park, Rainbow Falls, Macadamia Nut Farms...etc. Our tour guide Giovanni was great and told fun stories and had first hand experience of the recent eruption. Even though there is no active lava flows, the volcanoes were an amazing sight. The only negative was that if you are staying at the Hotels, this excursion picks up cruise shippers. Our cruise shippers were cantankerous, needing canes, complaining about bus temps, and requiring extra bathroom breaks. If you can avoid a cruise ship day I would highly recommend.

  • My husband and I were with 10 other people. Enjoyed the excursion overall. Sites very crowded. No rainbow at falls. Hard to look. Very crowded. Enjoyed seeing Volcanoes National Park after 30 years last visit. The orchids stop was beautiful.

  • He took us to every place specified on the schedule and a bonus stop. He was sooo knowledgeable and polite which made the trip extra fun.The picture advertised however has nothing to do with the trip. It is not in your Tourguides control what’s open and what is not but Paul made sure we got to see as much as possible. The only con we have was do not mix people from a Cruise ship with people who stay on the big island. All they did was complain and worry they do not make it back in time to the cruise ship and want to rush around.

  • A very good tour.
