Stop At: Volcano National Park, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Island of Hawaii, HI

For many, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is the highlight of the tour. Visit the rim of Halemaumau Crater, explore the visitor center and stroll the ancient lava trails with our guides. Kilauea erupted violently in the spring of 2018 causing 80,000 earthquakes through the summer. One hundred days of underground and fissure eruptions, make this the most exciting attraction on Hawaii Island.

"Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is on Hawaii Island (the Big Island). At its heart are the Kīlauea and Mauna Loa active volcanoes. The Crater Rim Drive passes steam vents and the Jaggar Museum, which features volcanology exhibits and a viewpoint overlooking Halema'uma'u Crater. Thick ferns mark the entrance to the Thurston Lava Tube (Nāhuku). The Chain of Craters Road weaves over lava. Trails crisscross the park."

  • We spent the day with Zoe from Kailani tours.
We were picked up exactly on time and spent the next 12 hours seeing and learning a lot about the Big Island, including tons of funny and interesting anecdotes and local legends.
Zoe was awesome and really went out of her way to take care of everyone on the tour. Even pushing one lady up a hill on her motorized scooter that wouldn't go up steep slopes.

  • This was a great way to see the whole island and experience the different weather patterns on the island. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all the volcanic activity.

  • great tour guide, awesome lunch. but we missed seeing Akaka Falls. very knowledgeable on the history and forelore!
