Activity Details
What makes this tour different is that instead of walking the Freedom Trail geographically – starting at one end and following it to the other – we let the escalating action of the American Revolution guide us through the crooked streets of Boston. The sightseeing is synchronized with and unfolds to the storytelling. There’s a lot less emphasis on dry facts and dates and a lot more on the passions, personalities, and psychologies driving the events; recreating the drama and recapturing the energy that invented America. It's not only much more enjoyable it's also the most effective way to explore the city and relive the history.

The entire experience has been built with the aspirations and anxieties of a fellow tourist in mind: the groups are kept small so you aren't herded around; we cover both the major sights and the hidden gems; extensive visual aids and props help you grasp the material, and you'll traverse all original neighborhoods getting a sense of the modern city as well.

  • Such a great experience!! Mike had a way of pulling you into the story and walking through it all without simply listing off facts. I could tell he really cares about and is knowledgeable in the city’s history. 100% must do!

  • Fantastic tour! Our guide really brought the history to life, rather than just a boring list of names and dates. One of the best historical tours I’ve taken. Highly recommended!

  • Mike was amazing! He brought the Sons of Liberty to life!! The way he told the story was different. Mike had you hanging on every word.

  • Mike did a great job despite less than ideal weather. Made it enjoyable for our teenage children. A great tour!

  • Mike was great about sharing lots of history in a fun and entertaining way. We enjoyed the stories about the major historical figures. It moved quick to cover all the important information and locations. Our teenagers were engaged and kept up but would not recommend for younger kids. Highly recommend this tour.

  • Would recommend to anyone! Tour was fun and informative, guide was excellent and one could tell he loved both history and the city

  • Whatever you’re paying Micheal, you need to pay him double! This man made the Revolutionary War and the Sons of Liberty come to life. Micheal gave us an interesting, detailed and intertwined story of the history of those men who laid the foundation for our country that spanned the length of the tour. He didn’t just throw out cold facts here and there, but rather led us on an interactive story that sprang to life as we tour historic Boston. There are other guides, but only Micheal is an enthusiastic history buff that will deliver a story that will make you want to be a Son of Liberty!

  • Our tour leader, Mike, has created a masterful journey around Boston that weaves together so many of the details of the revolutionary time period in our country. More importantly, he involves the tour group as members of the group are asked to assume the roles of many of the key players along the way. This technique helps keep everyone involved in the learning experience, because you just don’t hear a bunch of recited facts at the major landmarks…instead Mike really helps paint the picture of what the key figures were thinking and how their personalities help fashion the outcomes of our history.

Mike is passionate about painting the picture in your mind about what drives the events of our revolutionary story and does a wonderful job of weaving in interesting facts about Boston along the way. Well worth the price - we’d go again.

  • I wanted a tour that hit as many of the Freedom Trail sites as possible and this fit the bill. I am so happy I chose this tour. Mike, who created and is the guide of this tour, is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the revolution and brings the characters and events to life. He is funny and interacts well with the group. It’s a bit longer than other tours but it’s unique and great for those who want more insight and details than a typical tour. So book this, you can’t go wrong with this tour!

  • Mike was early on arrival and efficient with time thru out the tour. His passion for history was evident with several personal touches such as visual aides(maps etc). This tour not only shows the physical sites but u also get to know the major player’s and their personalities.

  • We’ve taken tours in several domestic and international cities in the past 25 years. This was in the top 1%. Mike was educated, prepared, engaging, communicative, funny and very informative. I hope that he will teach American history at some university that in the near future. A very good value if you want a snapshot of events leading up to the American Revolution.
