FREQUENTLY ASKED CLIENT QUESTIONS FOR CSA-TRAVEL INSURANCE
Who is CSA Travel Protection?
Since 1991, CSA Travel Protection has provided valuable travel insurance and emergency assistance services to protect travelers and their trip costs.
When can I buy a travel protection plan?
While we encourage you to purchase your plan as soon as you book your trip, you may buy travel protection up until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time the day prior to departure.
Who is protected under these plans?
These plans can cover up to 10 travelers as long as they are all listed on the insurance policy
and have purchased the insurance.
How long of a trip can I take and still be covered?
The maximum trip length for these plans is 365 days (some state limitations may apply).
What is a covered event?
Covered events will be described in your Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy, but
generally refer to events such as sickness, injury, severe weather, a strike, or a terrorist
event that causes your trip to be cancelled or interrupted. As with any insurance plan, we
strongly encourage plan holders to read their Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy for
details regarding their available coverage.
What is a foreseeable event?
Foreseeable simply means reasonably known beforehand. Once it is reasonable that people
traveling to an area would know about an event, it becomes foreseeable. For example, if the
airline you are flying announces that they are going on strike, the event becomes foreseeable
once the strike is announced.
What is 'final payment'?
Final payment is the last pre-paid payment (prior to departure) of the most expensive part of
the trip, unless the main air arrangements are added last. "Main air arrangements" refer to air
to/from the main destination compared to tickets for a side trip during the vacation.
Is there coverage to cancel for any reason?
With the Freestyle Luxe, you can add optional Trip Cancellation For Any Reason coverage to
your plan. This means you can still have protection if you have to cancel your trip, even if
you are not cancelling due to a listed, covered event. To be eligible for this optional coverage,
you have to purchase the plan within 24 hours of making initial deposit for the trip and you
can not be disabled from travel when you buy the plan. You must also insure your full trip cost
that is subject to cancellation penalties or restrictions and that trip cost can not be more than
$10,000, per person. Finally, you must cancel your arrangements at least 48 hours before your
scheduled departure date. If you can meet all five of these requirements, this coverage could
be a good option for you.
What services are available to me before, during and after my trip?
You are eligible for informational and concierge services at any time after you purchase a CSA
plan. The Emergency Assistance Services become available when you actually start your trip.
Emergency Assistance, Concierge and Informational Services end the earliest of: midnight on
the day the program expires; when you reach your return destination; or when you complete
your trip. Other services may be available depending on the plan you purchase; refer to the
Description of Coverage or Policy for details.
How does the on demand medical service work?
If you need medical assistance while traveling, you should call CSA's 24-hour assistance hotline
to be connected with a licensed physician within their designated provider's network for
information, advice and treatment, including prescription drugs, when in the U.S. CSA also has a
service that allows you to receive treatment without spending your vacation dollars when
the unexpected occurs. CSA can get you to a trusted provider and handle the payment for acute
treatments up to $1,000. If the medical expense is more than $1,000, you would use the
standard claims process to seek reimbursement.
Who do I call if I have an emergency while on my trip?
Every travel insurance plan from CSA Travel Protection includes our acclaimed 24-Hour Emergency Assistance Services, for immediate aid accessible from anywhere in the world. When you call, you should have available your plan Policy/Reference number, your location, a local telephone number you have access to, and details of the situation. The assistance provider will confirm your enrollment and assist you.
